Candy Cane Lane in Clovis
Don’t assume that because it doesn’t snow in Clovis, you won’t feel like you’re in a winter wonderland. Clovis’ Cindy Lane is famous for Christmas lights, so much so that people nicknamed it Candy Cane Lane. The spirit of decorating might have started with the residents of Cindy Lane, but it didn’t end there; many homes in the neighborhood and surrounding areas decorate their front lawns as well.
So before heading back to your hotel for the night, swing by Candy Cane Lane. Most lights turn on around 6 in the evening, creating a bit of a light show. Whether you’re driving through the area or exploring the decoration on foot, the spectacle of lights is completely free. Start your drive on Cindy Lane, then veer toward Peach and Alluvial avenues. You’ll see hundreds of thousands of lights and many inflatables.
Christmas Tree Lane in Fresno
Can’t make it to Candy Cane Lane in Clovis? That’s OK, because you can have a similar experience in Fresno. Christmas Tree Lane on Van Ness Boulevard is one of the longest-running holiday events in the country. The festivities all began in 1920, when locals decorated a single tree in memory of a child who passed away. What started as a sad event has now blossomed into one of Fresno County’s most anticipated holiday attractions.
Many visitors opt to explore Christmas Tree Lane from the comfort of their cars, but don’t let that stop you from exploring on foot. Two nights, Dec. 3 and Dec. 13, are Walk Nights, meaning that Van Ness Boulevard will be closed to cars from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Not in the area? No problem! Tree Fresno plans to provide bus rides from Fig Garden Village in Fresno’s financial center, making it easy for anyone to experience the spectacle of Christmas Tree Lane.
