In June, Respite by the River will feature poet Peter Everwine. Music for the evening will be provided by Glen Delpit. Bring your picnic dinner and blanket, and relax in the cool evening breezes at the River Center, while enjoying wonderful local authors and musicians. Macca's Wine Bar will be open during the dinner hour, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a wonderful selection of wines for sale by the glass. The reading will begin at 7:00 p.m., with book sales and signing to follow. Dessert will be for sale during the event. Peter Everwine was born in Detroit and raised in Pennsylvania. His most recent books are From the Meadow: Selected and New Poems and Listening Long and Late. His honors include the Lamont Award, two Pushcart prizes, an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature, and fellowships from the NEA and the Guggenheim Foundation. He taught at California State University, Fresno, and has been a Fulbright senior lecturer in American Poetry at the University of Haifa, Israel. Born in New Orleans, living in California, and recently named Musician of the Year in Fresno Magazine’s online poll, Glen Delpit has been mining the roots of American Music with his bluesy and folk oriented slide guitar style for more than 35 years. His vocals have been characterized from Deep Delta to Van Morrison and his original songs have been described as literate and poetic and can take their place with the finest American songwriters.
