About This Event

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month! Wear denim on April 25th to show support for the international Denim Day protest. Denim Day began as a protest against an unfair court decision regarding a sexual assault case. It was ruled that women wearing jeans could not be raped because the jeans would be too tight to be removed without assistance. The decision has since been revoked, but we keep protesting to raise awareness about the victim blaming still prevalent in our culture. We will be tabling and providing resources for survivors of sexual assault and their allies. There will also be an opportunity to create personalized encouragements to show our support for survivors. These will be displayed in the Thomas Building well after the event to promote a feeling of safety and validation for all.
