It directly supports improvement of services and infrastructure (police, ﬁre, restaurants, sports & convention venues, festivals) that cater to both visitors and residents. Travel and tourism is one of the world’s largest exports and largest employers.

California has the second-largest state tourism promotion budget in the U.S., a ﬁgure much more in line with its stature as the top travel destination in the country. Generating $95.1 billion in tax revenues, California’s tourism economy is nearly one and one-half times that of Florida, nearly twice as large as New York and Texas, and more than six times larger than the Hawaiian tourism economy.

Local Gatherings Bring Dollars to Fresno Region (29 KB)
The Fresno City & County Convention & Visitors Bureau has reported that an estimated economic impact of $965,000 will be brought in to the Fresno region from events taking place this week. Events include the Disabled American Veterans Annual Convention, the CIF State Track Meet, The Belmont Concours d’Eleganza, and the CA USA Youth Wrestling.

Fresno is City of Choice for Senior Softball California Cup (77 KB)
– Senior Softball-USA has committed to hold their Regional Championships in Fresno, CA. The event will take place August 9-14, 2011, and will bring approximately 1,000 room nights with an estimated economic impact of $420,000.
2011-13 Eastern Star Convention in Fresno (77 KB)
The Order of the Eastern Star (OES) has committed to hold their annual Grand Chapter Session in Fresno for three years. The event will take place in October of 2011, 2012, and 2013, and will bring in an economic impact of $300,000 annually and a total economic impact of $900,000.
