About This Event
Join us as we kick off our 2017-2018 Nature Walk season with this free ‘Wildlife, Restoration, and a Changing River’ hike and explore River Bottom Park, near Riverside Golf Course. Guide George Folsom will introduce participants to local wildlife, discuss the history of the San Joaquin River and current restoration efforts, and point out changes to the river created during the high flows this past spring. We will be meeting at the Riverside Golf Course Parking lot at 9 AM. Participants can expect to spend a few hours observing various bird species as well as other wildlife. George Folsom has been involved with the River Parkway Trust for 18 years. He is retired from a 40 year career in the air conditioning industry, and has a great love of the outdoors. His main interest is field ornithology, but he also enjoys discussing habitat preservation, river history and restoration, Native American history, and water issues. Please dress appropriately (closed toed shoes, long pants, etc.) and bring a hat, sunscreen, water, binoculars and a small snack. Children 10+ welcome.
