Dark Sky Festival

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks
47050 Generals Highway Three Rivers, CA 93271

About This Event

The night sky in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is nationally recognized. Our darkness not only adds to the aesthetic qualities of the wilderness but is important to the health of our wildlife. As most of the world is faced with the effects of artificial light pollution, the Dark Sky Festival aims to educate visitors about the importance of this park resource and inspire them to take action in their own community. We hope you join us in the summer of 2017 for the fourth annual Dark Sky Festival and share your passion for the night sky and astronomy.

The weekend will include:
“They Fly in the Night: Bats of Sequoia National Park.”
“Invisible Astronomy”
“National Parks After Dark”
“All About Telescopes”
“The Effects of Outdoor Lighting on the Environment”
“An Illustrated Guided Tour of the Night”
“NASA/JPL: How to Fly Deep Space Missions”
“Life On Other Worlds: Extremophiles in Crystal Cave”
“Living and Working in Space”
more to come!
